Adult and Youth Community Services
An Adult and Youth Community Counsellor (also known as an Adult Protection Service Worker) provide a range of services to youth and adults. The primary objective is to support adults with a developmental disability to live as independently, safely, and securely as possible in their community. DSLG’s Adult and Youth Community Counsellor services include:
- Development of an individualized plan
- Service co-ordination.
- Advocacy
- Counselling in the areas of problem solving, decision-making, housing, employment, finances, life skills, family issues, legal issues, and other individual issues.
- Long-term planning and assisting with independence building.
- Assistance with individualized funding applications
- Linking services for individuals
- Clinical, recreational and life skills programs offered on an individual and/or group basis.
- Transportation, medical appointments, advocacy, and making referrals to other programs.
- Crisis management/ counselling

A variety of specialized services are available for both children and adults. These include; Psychological Services, Behavioural Services, Social Work Services, Psychiatric Clinic, Child Psychotherapy and Play Therapy as well as Occupational Therapy (OT)
