Agency Update - Covid-19
Following the direction of the Provincial Government Effective January 14, 2021 DSLG has transitioned to a working with precautionary measures model to ensure the safety of the individuals we are supporting and staff. In keeping the safety of our individuals and staff as a top priority, we will transition most staff to working from home to mitigate the risk to all for the duration of the stay at home order. We will re-evaluate the risks throughout this period and extend the time frame if necessary. This means all location doors will be locked and face to face interactions will be limited. If you receive supports from DSLG your coordinator will be in contact with you throughout this period and support you in the safest way. Please know we will still continue to operate and provide services and supports to individuals during this time period as best as possible.

On June 15th, 2015 Developmental Services of Leeds and Grenville received notification that it had achieved a four year accreditation for the period June 2015 to June 2019 from FOCUS Accreditation. Although accreditation is not mandatory, it clearly demonstrates our commitment to accountability and quality, and a desire to continue to improve the lives of the people we support. Over the course of three day review, FOCUS Accreditations team of validators reviewed services and supports on site. The team observed how services were provided, reviewed data, and collected input from various people who have a stake in the services being provided. FOCUS Accreditation looked at all aspects of how we as an organization provides services from how people are supported to the effectiveness of its operations.

The accreditation review process is designed to provide consistent expectations and to ensure high quality standards of care and safety for all adults with developmental disabilities.

Some of the strengths of the organization identified by FOCUS included: strong leadership, culture of continuous learning and improvement, flexible person centred services and a recognition that the organization is a highly regarded community partner.

Moving forward, DSLG will continue its commitment to ensure we meet All FOCUS Accreditation Standards. As part of our commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement, we have completed a Quality Improvement Plan, that addresses the recommendations in the accreditation report, as well as, next steps that have been established for quality improvement purposes for the next four years. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the board of directors, managers, staff, service recipients, family members and community partners whos participation and contributions to the accreditation review process made it such a great success.
