Developmental Services of Leeds and Grenville has been successful in its bid to be re-accredited by FOCUS Accreditation for the next four years (March 2021 - March 2025).
FOCUS Accreditation looks at all aspects of how an organization provides services - from how people are supported to the effectiveness of the operations. FOCUS Accreditation had a team of 14 people who reviewed DSLG's services, both on site and virtually, over a period of two weeks. The team observed how services were provided, reviewed data, and collected input from various people who have a stake in the services being provided.
The accreditation review process is designed to provide consistent expectations and to ensure high quality standards of care and safety for all adults with developmental disabilities.
Many strengths were identified at Developmental Services of Leeds and Grenville by the FOCUS validators:
- DSLG offers an extensive variety of services including child and family support, respite, specialized services, adult and children groups, Family Home, youth and adult support, and short-term treatment centres. The range of services allows for a seamless provision of support throughout an individual's life.
- DSLG is committed to building and strengthening effective communication strategies in the workplace.
- DSLG engages in a person-centered planning process that focuses on improving the individual's quality of life.
FOCUS is a non-profit accreditation agency for community service organizations that accredits the whole organization, not just select groups within. The standards reflect best practice in the way services are provided as well as the effectiveness of how the organization operates.
