Child and Family Supports 

Children and Family Community Counselors offer a variety of clinical and support services for children and families in the Leeds and Grenville areas.

• Intake and Assessment: A counselor determines eligibility and support needs through the completion of the applicant referral process. This includes gathering historical and other pertinent information, as well as, identifying the applicant’s adaptive skills, strengths and needs. Environmental, physical, psychological and health needs are discussed to formulate an initial plan.

• Service Co-ordination (internally and with outside agencies)

• Counseling in the areas of parenting skills development (including Triple P – Positive Parenting Program), housing, family issues, life skills and individual skill development

• Assistance with applications for funding (Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities [ACSD], Special Services at Home [SSAH], Out of Home Respite, Autism Respite)

• Support worker arrangements are facilitated and supervised with funding from the ACSD and SSAH applications.

• Facilitates referrals to Behaviour and Social Work services and therapy for more intensive/complex issues.

• Facilitates referrals to teaching and training groups offered throughout the year in the following areas:
• Social skills groups – formal training
• Social – recreational training
• Community awareness training
• Adolescent community groups
